Can HGH Improve Vision?

A It is a fact of life that as we get older, however much we take care of our eyes, our vision deteriorates in many of us. It forms a natural course of ageing, and can unfortunately affect quality of life.

But vision loss is not your fault. It's a natural phenomenon that just happens with aging.

Whether you are farsighted or nearsighted, or have astigmatism (a miss-shaped cornea), failing eyesight naturally comes with the aging process that everyone must face.

It's interesting because this process of weakening eyesight takes place so slowly and subtly that most people don't notice it until it has taken its toll on your.

Then, all of a sudden, the task of driving a car or reading a newspaper begins to give you a headache that makes it difficult to concentrate or think about what you're doing.

If you are suffering from these symptoms, you could be experiencing a loss of visual acuity.

But it is something you don't have to live with. If you could increase your hormone level naturally, you could practically save your vision while actually reducing the signs and symptoms of aging.

While there are a number of ways to look after your eyes, including regular visits to your optometrist, there seems to be a lot of interest recently in the effects of Human Growth Hormone (HGH) on vision, and whether it can actually improve with age related visual deterioration.

HGH is released from the pituitary gland, and plays an important role in regulating cell growth and overall body growth in general. In addition, it also regulates cell growth at the back of the eye; the part called the retina. The retina is a structure in the eye that receives images that are perceived and then sends a signal to the brain, helping to identify these signals. HGH also has an effect on muscle tissues surrounding the eyeball.

Studies have shown that HGH, in particular a hormone called Insulin like Growth Factor -1 (IGF-1) is responsible for the adequate development of vision in fetuses.

How does HGH help improve vision?

There are a number of ways in which HGH has been thought to improve vision naturally:

1. It strengthens the muscles surround the pupil and the lens in the eye, thus helping the eyes adjust to light and dark better.

2. With ageing, there is degeneration of the retinal tissue, causing visual blurring - a condition called age-related macular degeneration. Over time, this condition can cause loss of colour vision, and eventually complete blindness if left untreated. There is anecdotal evidence that HGH naturally improves the function of the retina and prevents macular degeneration from progressing.

3. It has a protective effect on the nerve cells in the retina. While research is still being conducted in this field, there have been many reports of human growth hormone being a safe way to improve vision, especially when getting older. A recent study showed that HGH treatment improved retinal cell survival.

Can HGH harm vision?

Yet again, the research is thin on this subject. However, studies have shown that in patients suffering from diabetes, HGH may in fact worsen vision by affecting the retina further (Diabetes itself can affect the retina and impair vision significantly over time). So if you are considering HGH treatment and take medication for diabetes, make sure you discuss this with your optometrist or ophthalmologist first.

Conclusion

It appears from the available evidence that HGH may provide a natural and safe method of improving vision in people with long sightedness or short sightedness. Natural HGH supplements are able to give you a younger look and feel - with absolutely no side effects. It has been shown to improve your visual function of the eye within just a few weeks.

However, potential side effects, though few, remain to be fully studied still. While research remains thin, studies will no doubt be conducted to ascertain its full effect on the vision and safety, so far patient reports on its effects have been promising, even though the change in vision in some cases has only been minimal.
